ACTION FOR HARBOROUGH MAGNA RESIDENTS;

ADVICE ON COMPLETING THE NEW & REVISED DEPARTMENT FOR TRANSPORT’S MIDLANDS QUESTIONNAIRE

Last year Harborough Magna and Easenhall Airport Action Group advised residents to show the depth of feeling and resistance to the proposed airport plans for Rugby.  We received excellent support for this

Our last newsletter told you that, because the Government has now been obliged to include Gatwick airport in its proposals, the consultation period over the ‘New Airport’ has been extended to 30 June 2003. The questionnaires which many of us returned to the Department for Transport last year have been revised and reprinted; these need to be completed and returned by 30 June. Some of you may have already received a copy of the new version.

Our meetings with Rugby’s Strategic Anti-Airport Co-ordinating Group (SACG), the Anti Rugby Airport Committee (ARAC), and other Village Action Groups have concluded that it is in the anti Rugby Airports interest to complete in full the new DFT questionnaire. We have (as before) prepared ‘considered responses’ for you to use when completing your questionnaire We believe these best support our case for NO AIRPORT AT RUGBY and a copy is attached.

Please do not take the view that as you completed a questionnaire the first time round no more action is necessary - we strongly recommend that you complete this new one. Indeed, the Department for Transport asks you to do this in its introduction on the first page.

(Although it is possible to complete the questionnaire ‘on line’ via www - We advise against this action, as there are some major differences in the new electronic version.)

Questionnaire completion

All members of your household can complete the document and we will soon have enough additional supplies for every resident, including children, to be able to fill one in. We will be coming round the village over the next few weeks to see everyone. We will have with us completed questionnaires where all you will have to do is complete the personal answers and sign, we will even send them off for you. If in the meantime you wish to send off your own forms we hope that you will use the suggested answers which are attached

If you have ANY QUERIES  please telephone any one of us from Harborough Magna Action committee.

Other items - Mass Protest March is planned for 1st June 2.00 start. It will be in Rugby and end at the Whitehall Recreation Ground.
